Youth & Young Adult Ministries Adoration Hour

First Friday Adoration, January 1, 2021

Welcome! Please be seated.

Theme: Mary, Mother of God

Reader: Merry Christmas! Today is the Octave Day of Christmas and we celebrate the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God. Let us pause for a moment to let God enter into the silence of our hearts.

Please kneel when the Blessed Sacrament is placed in the Monstrance.

 Song - O Salutaris Hostia

O saving Victim, opening wide,

The gate of heaven to man below!

Our foes press on from every side;

Thine aid supply, thy strength bestow.

To Thy great name by endless praise,

Immortal Godhead, one in Three;

Oh, grant us endless length of days,

In our true native land with Thee. Amen

O Saving Lamb, Please take my hand

O Love Divine, be all of mine.

O Saving Lamb, please take my hand.

O Love Divine, be all of mine, for all of time.

Opening Prayer READER #1

Let us begin, as we do all things:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O God, who through the fruitful virginity of Blessed Mary bestowed on the human race the grace of eternal salvation, grant, we pray, that we may experience the intercession of her, through whom we were found worthy to receive the author of life, our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

ALL:  Amen.

Scripture Reading READER #2

Lectio Divina - Sacred Reading of The Word. We will hear the Gospel proclaimed three times. After each reading, we will silently reflect on The Word.

A reading from the Gospel According to Luke.

The shepherds went in haste to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. When they saw this, they made known the message that had been told them about this child. All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds. And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them.

When eight days were completed for his circumcision, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

The Gospel of the Lord.

ALL: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Reader 2: What word or phrase in today’s Gospel speaks to your heart?

Reader 3: Silent Personal Reflection – What is God saying to you through this word or phrase?

Reader 4:What action is God calling you to through His word or phrase?

Song: Behold,  David Kauffman

Chorus: Behold, Behold
The mighty one has done great things for me
Behold, Behold
The mighty one has done great things for me
And Holy is your name
And Holy is your name
My soul exalts you
Behold my Lord whose mercy lies on me

Verse 1: My soul magnifies the Lord
My spirit rejoices in my savior
He looks at me with kindness
As with holy eyes of blindness
And all will call me blessed

Verse 2: Compassion inhabits those who fear him
He has done great deeds with is arms
Scattered the proud. Rulers are brought down,
And he has lifted the humble

Verse 3: He has filled the hungry with good things
And sent away the selfish empty handed
He has sent his servant, in remembrance of his mercy
And he has kept his promise

Song: Peace

Verse 1: When my mind is like a battlefield
And my heart is overcome by fear
And hope seems like a ship that's lost at sea

Verse 2: My enemies on every side
And I'm tempted to run and hide
Your gentle whisper reaches out to me

Chorus: (You give me) Peace
(That) Holds me when I'm broken
Sweet peace
That passes understanding
When the whole wide world is crashing down
I fall to my knees
And breathe in (Your peace)

Verse 3: Fiery arrows whistling
The terror of the night sets in
But I can feel Your angels all around

Verse 4: I am resting underneath
The shelter of Your mighty wings
Your promises are where my hope is found

Bridge: I remember who You are
You're the God who's never far
So I will not be afraid
God You always keep me safe in Your arms

Silent Reflection

Prayer for Vocations – Reader #3

God of Life, You speak to us and nourish us through the life of our Church community. In the name of Jesus, we ask you to send your Spirit so that all men and women among us will respond to your call to service and leadership in our Church as priests, deacons, brothers, and sisters. May those who open their hearts and minds to this call be encouraged and strengthened through Our enthusiasm and support. We make this prayer through Jesus your Son. Amen.

Song: The Blessing

Verse: The Lord bless you
And keep you
Make his face shine upon you
And be gracious to you
The Lord turn his
Face toward you
And give you peace

Chorus: Amen

Bridge: May his favor
Be upon you
And a thousand generations
And your family
And your children
And their children
And their children

May his presence
Go before you
And behind you
And beside you
All around you
And within you
He is with you
He is with you

In the morning
In the evening
In your coming
And your going
In your weeping
And rejoicing
He is for you
He is for you

Chorus: Amen
