First Friday Adoration, March 5, 2021

Welcome! Please be seated.

Please kneel when the Blessed Sacrament is placed in the Monstrance.

 Song - O Salutaris Hostia

O saving Victim, opening wide,

The gate of heaven to man below!

Our foes press on from every side;

Thine aid supply, thy strength bestow.

To Thy great name by endless praise,

Immortal Godhead, one in Three;

Oh, grant us endless length of days,

In our true native land with Thee. Amen

O Saving Lamb, Please take my hand

O Love Divine, be all of mine.

O Saving Lamb, please take my hand.

O Love Divine, be all of mine, for all of time.

Opening Prayer READER #1

Let us begin, as we do all things: In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The reign of God is near at hand;
ALL: Come, let us adore Him.
How precious, O God, is your constant love.
ALL: We find protection in the shadow of your wings.

Antiphon: Come, let us worship the Lord who calls us to change our hearts
and minds.

O come, let us sing to the Lord; Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into God’s presence with thanksgiving; Let us make a joyful noise with songs of praise!

Antiphon: Come, let us worship the Lord who calls us to change our hearts
and minds.

For the Lord is a great God, And a great Ruler above all gods,
In whose hands are the depths of the earth and also the heights of the mountains.
The sea belongs to God who made it, And the dry land, because God formed it.

Antiphon: Come, let us worship the Lord who calls us to change our hearts
and minds.

O come, let us worship and bow down, Let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!
For the Lord is our God, We are the people of God’s pasture,
The sheep of God’s hand. Hear the voice of the Lord today!

Antiphon: Come, let us worship the Lord who calls us to change our hearts
and minds.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, And to the Holy Spirit;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

Antiphon: Come, let us worship the Lord who calls us to change our hearts
and minds.

Let us pray (pause for silent adoration)
By Christ our teacher, O God, you invite us to repentance – To a change of mind and heart.
By the grace and gift of our Savior, Transform our life And submit us to your holy will
That we may be your faithful creatures In thought, word, and deed; Through the same Christ our Lord.

ALL: AMEN.

Silent Prayer

Song: Drawn to You

Verse 1 : All my devotion is like sinking sand.
I've nothing to cling to but your sweet hand.
I've no clear emotions keeping me safe at night;
Only your presence, like a candle light.

Chorus: After everything I've had.
After everything I've lost.
Lord, I know this much is true,
I'm still drawn to you.

Verse 2: I pour out my sorrows just like a precious oil.
I kiss your feet, Lord, with a holy joy.
My tears an offering of my highest praise;
Your eyes say 'welcome.' And I receive Your gaze.

Chorus: 'Cause after everything I've had
And after everything I've lost
Lord, I know this much is true
I'm still drawn to you

Bridge: After everything's been said.
After everything love cost.
Lord, I know this much is true
I'm still drawn to you.
You know I am
Lord, I know this much is true
I'm still drawn to you.

Scripture Reading: Reader 2

A reading from the Prophet Ezekiel. (Ezekiel 37:4-6)

The Lord said to Ezekiel: Prophesy over these bones, and say to them: Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: Listen! I will make breath enter you so you may come to life. I will put sinews on you, make flesh grow over you, cover you with skin, and put breath into you so you may come to life. Then you shall know that I am the LORD. The Word of the Lord.

ALL: Thanks be to God.

Silent Reflection

Scripture Reading: Reader 3

A reading from the Gospel according to Luke. (Luke 6:20-26)

Blessed are you who are poor,
for the kingdom of God is yours.
Blessed are you who are now hungry,
for you will be satisfied.
Blessed are you who are now weeping,
for you will laugh.
Blessed are you when people hate you,
and when they exclude and insult you,
and denounce your name as evil
on account of the Son of Man.
Rejoice and leap for joy on that day!
Behold, your reward will be great in heaven.
For their ancestors treated the prophets in the same way.
But woe to you who are rich,
for you have received your consolation.
But woe to you who are filled now,
for you will be hungry.
Woe to you who laugh now,
for you will grieve and weep.
Woe to you when all speak well of you,
for their ancestors treated the false prophets in this way.
The Gospel of the Lord.

ALL: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.

Silent Reflection & Adoration

Song: You Were on the Cross

Lost, everything is lost
And everything I've loved before is gone
Alone like the coming of the frost
And a cold winter's chill in my stony heart

And where were You when all that I've hoped for?
Where You when all that I've dreamed?
Came crashing down in shambles around me
You were on the cross

Pain, could you take away the pain?
If I find someone to blame, would it make my life seem easier?
Alone, all my friends are asleep
And I can't find anyone to stay awake with me

Where were You when sin stole my innocence?
Where were You when I was ashamed?
Hiding in a life, I wish, I never made

You were on the cross, my God, my God, alone, alone
You were on the cross, You died for us, alone, alone
You were on the cross, victorious, alone, alone
You were there in all of my suffering
And You were there in doubt and in fear
I'm waiting on the dawn to reappear

Song: Nothing Else

I'm caught up in Your presence
I just want to sit here at Your feet
I'm caught up in this holy moment
I never wanna leave

Oh, I'm not here for blessings
Jesus, You don't owe me anything
More than anything that You can do
I just want You

I'm sorry when I've just gone through
the motions

I'm sorry when I just sang another song
Take me back to where we started
I open up my heart to You

I'm sorry when I've come with my agenda
I'm sorry when I forgot that You're enough
Take me back to where we started
I open up my heart to You

Prayer for Vocations – Reader #4

God of Life, You speak to us and nourish us through the life of our Church community.

In the name of Jesus, we ask you to send your Spirit so that all men and women among us will respond to your call to service and leadership in our Church as priests, deacons, brothers, and sisters.

May those who open their hearts and minds to this call be encouraged and strengthened through Our enthusiasm and support. We make this prayer through Jesus your Son.

Amen.

Clsoing Prayer: Reader 5

Lord Jesus Christ, Redeemer of the World, You were lifted up on the cross So that everyone who believes in You might have eternal life. By the power of Your wisdom and might, Draw everyone who believes in You and everyone who does not believe in You Working in the seven Sacraments of the holy Church. Draw all nations and peoples to the foot of the cross By the intercessions of the Virgin Mary, St. Mary Magdalene, And the beloved disciple who stood near You as You died. Make the earth resound from pole to pole with a single cry; Praise to the Divine Heart that gained our salvation; Glory and honor be His for ever and ever. ALL: AMEN

Song: Lay It Down

Everything I am,
everything I long to be
I lay it down at Your feet
Everything I am,
everything I long to be
I lay it down at Your feet

I lay it down, I lay it down
I lay it down at Your feet
I lay it down, I lay it down
I lay it down at Your feet

Oh, Pearl of greatest price
No act of sacrifice
Can match the gift of life
I find within Your gaze

Oh, what a sweet exchange
I die to rise again
Lifted up from the grave
Into Your hands of grace
